Why is it called the “Miracle Tree”? In Mark 5: 21-43 the stories are told of two miracles, one interrupting the other – but no matter the age, economic status, urgency, all were healed. COVID interrupted a lot for everyone. So as we enter this new post-pandemic chapter at CPC we remember miracles surround us and we are invited to remember anew who we are and Whose we are in service to this church.
In July, during the peak of summer harvest, you will see a new “tree” in the atrium of the church. Each of the handprint “leaves” will contain an opportunity where your gifts are needed. Appreciating the many calls placed on each of our lives, these opportunities are re-visioned to smaller, more manageable ways to meaningfully serve God and each other. By September and the arrival of fall, we hope the tree branches will be sparsely covered (if at all!). There will be opportunities for every age group; you can even create your own leaf to specify the gift you feel called to offer (maybe a new skill you acquired during the pandemic?).
Leaves will be available every Sunday and you can also find one you can download on our website. So take whatever time you need to listen to where God may be calling you to share your gifts…and feel free to dream. If you don’t see your gift being employed at the church now, we can’t employ it until we know about it If you need a kickstart or are interested in the many existing ways you can serve here, a list is posted on our website of most urgent needs.
So, may you enjoy a summer of many types of sabbath. May you be still and know God. And may you hear the Spirit calling you to share your gifts in new and different ways. We’ve already received a few new “leaves” and we’re looking to hear from everyone. Come shine with us!
