Finance Committee

The Finance Committee meets monthly at 7:00 p.m. on the third Monday of each month.

Committee work involves leading the annual Church Budget preparations with Session Elders, preparing and analyzing monthly financial statements of the General Fund, Building Fund and Pre-School program, accounting for Receipts and Disbursements, preparing Member Quarterly Statements, providing for annual Audits, handling Stock Gifts, managing Church insurance coverage, conducting Bank relationships, liaison with the Memorial Committee, participation in Stewardship and Capital Fund Campaigns along with special projects involving financial aspects of Church life.

Securities or Stock Donations

Donating appreciated stocks or securities to Clemmons Presbyterian Church is sometimes more advantageous than gifts of cash. Here’s why:

1. You avoid paying capital gains taxes when you contribute appreciated securities directly to the Church.
2. You deduct the full value of the stock as a charitable contribution, saving income tax and lowering the effective cost of your gift.
3. The full value of your gift of securities helps the Church and its programs while you receive a substantial tax break.  You may ask your financial advisor to transfer stock gifts electronically.

If you do, please notify us directly or request that your broker do so, providing your name, the name of the contributed stock, the number of shares, the date of transfer and whether your donation is to be applied to the general operating fund or the building fund.
