Fellowship Ministries

The Fellowship Ministry seeks to provide church members and visitors with an opportunity to meet, socialize, and recreate at various receptions, picnics, retreats and other church functions, some for specific ages, and some for the whole church.

There are many areas for involvement and participation! Please contact Beth Maclin, Fellowship Elder, for more information at or

Recreation Team:

A new ministry team for CPC! The Recreation Team coordinates various church outings, such as sporting events, church retreats, and seasonal activities (example – Trunk or Treat, Christmas caroling and Easter Egg Hunt). For more information or to join the Team, please contact Beth Maclin at  or 794-5399.

Hostess Team:

This Team coordinates church receptions and picnics. This group also hosts Lemonade and Cookies after the late service the second Sunday of each month from April through October. To join the Hostess Team, please contact the church office or Beth Maclin at 794-5399.

Wednesday Night Supper Team:

This Team provides meals to those attending Wednesday night church activities. Stevie Armbrecht coordinates volunteers to serve dinner to the group about once a month . To join the Supper Team, please contact Stevie Armbrecht at or 768-2629.

Men of the Church:

Men of the Church is a loose organization of guys who meet for breakfast monthly, ordinarily at the Church, for a wonderful meal prepared by fellow men of the church. Someone will lead a devotion, another will lead a short program, and sometimes we tackle building & grounds projects around the property. All men are welcome, and speaking to a pastor for more information is always appropriate or you may contact Jon Clark at 712-9521.

Presbyterian Women (PW):

  • Circles:

The Ruth Circle meets on the first Tuesday of each month from September through June at 7 P.M. in the church parlor. We have fellowship, Bible study, and attend to the business of the circle. For the June meeting we have a picnic at Tanglewood to end the year.

  • Activities:

PW holds a bake sale each year for the church-wide Mission Fair. PW also takes trips just for fun, such as: Seagrove, N.C. to visit the pottery factories; spiritual retreats to Montreat; shopping trips to Asheville; dinner outings; and anywhere any creative PW might think up! PW, in addition, recognizes the graduating high school students each year with a gift. And then the Ruth Circle honors college students as "students of the month" with a special surprise.

  • Special Activity:

Each spring, PW celebrates its birthday with a luncheon for fun, fellowship, and to collect an offering for PW missions.

20s & 30s:

The 20s & 30s Group gathers occasionally for fellowship at a group member's home. We have gathered to share a meal and for game nights. A new activity for the group is the Fourth Sunday Lunches. All 20s & 30s are invited to join us.

20s & 30s Fourth Sunday Lunches:

Join Associate Pastor Jay and other 20s & 30s for lunch on the fourth Sundays of the month. We will gather in the narthex following 10:45 worship and travel together to a local restaurant.

For more information about the 20s & 30s Group, contact Associate Pastor .

Empty Nesters:

Empty Nesters meet monthly to socialize and to fellowship. We meet the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 PM, usually in the Fellowship Hall for a covered dish meal. We sometimes go to a restaurant for the meal. We have a planning committee who suggest activities and trips. In the past, we have gone to local plays, attended the Barn Dinner Theatre in Greensboro, and traveled to the Zoo in Asheboro. Upcoming events include at trip to Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens, a Lake Norman Dinner Cruise, and a cookout in the summer. For more information, please contact Bob Maclin at 794-5399 or email .

Lunch Bunch

"Lunch Bunch" was created a few years ago to allow for another opportunity for people to get to know one another over a meal—a mid-day meal. There is no agenda except to share and offer support for what is going on in the lives of those gathered. The group gathers the first Thursday in each month at a place chosen monthly—one of the last things the group decides is where to gather the next month. It is open to all members of the church and the attendance fluctuates from about 4 to 12. (Summer is more popular than winter).

Supper Clubs:

Supper clubs are groups of 6-10 people who meet together once a month for an informal dinner and fellowship gathering either in group members' homes or in a restaurant. Group members decide when and where and how they'll organize their menu. New Supper Club groups are formed each fall, January, and summer. Sign up by calling the church office or Lisa Sheehan (712-0496) or add your name to the list on the bulletin board near the choir room.

Golf Group:

Golf Group is a fun bunch of women and men who meet monthly on the first Saturday to play golf at different area courses. Roger Hartsfield is our great tournament director and arranges the sign up sheets and tee times. We usually play regular golf but sometimes add some fun games like everyone playing from the best drive. This is a strictly fun and fellowship activity that is open to everyone who signs up. A sign-up sheet is available on the bulletin board across from the Choir Room in the Sanctuary Building, usually a couple weeks in advance to the golf date.
