Our Building through the years:
The membership bought the current property and built the first sanctuary in 1964. The A-frame sanctuary with a wing for Sunday School classes, offices, small kitchen and fellowship area served the congregation well. As the church grew, a small shed was added that served as a space for additional Sunday School classes. This shed has been used for that purpose and for storage over the years.
Continued growth prompted the addition of an educational/office building in 1992. This building added four very much needed office spaces, three meeting rooms, and four nursery spaces for babies and preschool children. This nursery space doubles as a pre-school for small children during the school year.
Moving the church offices to the new building allowed expansion of the sanctuary seating in the original building to about 285 seats, but we quickly outgrew the capacity provided by that arrangement. A second worship service was added to the church schedule and discussions and planning began for a new sanctuary to be added to the complex.
The new sanctuary with seating for about 450 was built and dedicated in 2005. The new building supports the sanctuary for worship, music rooms for the sanctuary and hand bell choirs, and a parlor for meetings and special occasions. The original sanctuary is currently being used as an expanded fellowship hall.
In addition to the preschool meeting in the educational building, six Brownie and Girl Scout troops meet in our current fellowship hall building. Other community groups use the building and Clemmons Presbyterian Church considers this part of our mission to Clemmons and Forsyth County.
